After nearly two decades of dedicated service at Grand Rapids State Bank, Cory Colter continues to play a vital role in the institution’s lending department. Serving as Vice President of Personal Banking and Pokegama Office Manager, Cory specializes in consumer lending, assisting clients with a broad range of financial solutions including auto loans, mortgages, credit cards, and unsecured personal loans. His steady commitment to customer service has helped numerous individuals and families navigate important financial decisions with confidence.
Cory’s professional journey began at the University of Minnesota Duluth, where he earned his degree. He spent the next seven years working in Wells Fargo’s financial unit before transitioning into bank management in Virginia, Minnesota. Eventually, he returned to his hometown of Grand Rapids and joined GRSB—where he has remained for the past 17 years.
“What I value most is the environment and the people,” Cory said. “GRSB operates as a true community bank, where building close relationships with customers and helping them succeed is part of the culture.” Cory takes pride in providing hands-on assistance and finding solutions that meet each customer’s unique financial needs.
Like many in the banking industry today, Cory is mindful of the impact that rising prices and interest rates can have—particularly for first-time homebuyers. He remains focused on helping clients understand their options and make informed decisions in a shifting economic landscape.
Outside of work, Cory enjoys spending time outdoors and being with his family. He and his wife have been married for 17 years and are parents to three children—a 13-year-old and two 12-year-olds. Their home is also shared with three dogs and a cat, creating a lively and energetic environment. One of Cory’s greatest passions is deer hunting, which he especially enjoys when he can share the experience with his kids. Lake time and outdoor adventures round out their family’s favorite activities, offering a balance of excitement and relaxation.
Cory brings a thoughtful, practical approach to both his professional and personal life—qualities that make him a valued leader and team member at Grand Rapids State Bank.
